The argument is that it is a religious symbol. Apart from any criticism of this bizarre reasoning, since I know of nowhere in the <em>deen<\/em> that proposes scarves as symbols, it is nevertheless clear that the reason the Danes and others have arrived at this conclusion is because a great number of people wear the scarf as if it were a symbol.
