More on the new religion

Atheists are all cock-a-hoop these days and conceited about their self-proclaimed rationality, and yet clearly atheism is equally as religious as any other religion, and perhaps more so, since it depends on belief in an unseen matter: the belief that there is no god. And anyone who believes that the universe exists without a cause or that the big bang just happened in the emptiness of nothingness or that our universe is just one out of an infinite number of totally random universes is certainly a Believer with a very capital B. As Liebnitz said, the first question of philosophy is why is there something rather than nothing at all? Not many people want to ask that question today, let alone try to answer it.

  1. Dear Abdassamad
    Salaam

    Top drawer stuff

As Liebnitz said, the first question of philosophy is why is there something rather than nothing at all? Not many people want to ask that question today, let alone try to answer it.

Yeah, and that is because just reading something of The Metaphysics of the Understanding just to get myself to understand Liebnitz is one hard work keeping my lids up and not try to swoon what more an orangutan. Perhaps though, this very intelligent Diutser dude – as he is most local as Liebnitz was – could pull a rabbit or two out from a fez burgandy or an article sarong from a fakir as he was good and kind enough to conjour Wie wird man eigentlich Muslim?.

Still, I had a dream and I am enjoying your articles.

    Terima Kasih

  2. wa alaikum as-salam, the point was not that it was Liebnitz who said it, but the thought itself. Forget the famous and the erudite. Forget trying to answer that question; it is more like a theme to meditate on. The intelligent design argument, being too clever by half, thinks that only cleverness is a sign of the Divine. How many people have got tangled in ID and sink when it is refuted. But there is no answer to this profound question, which is perhaps one of the simplest ever asked.

    Regards,

    Abdassamad

  3. Yeah, like if you wanna play god. Well, the rule of thumb is that god knows the answer and whoever has the answer is – er, god? Okay, not god, then; just god’s men or women. Ohh, the tinkerers, thinkers and the top notch scientists aren’t they so terribly erudite: out psycho-babble an orang kampung anytime; and modern man orang hutan do not want to look dumb!!

Still, this is a good posting.

    Terima Kasih
